well hittite cats are powerful, no one denys that. but this is my top 3 list and i think the aforementioned three are better than cats. cats alone will be destroyed easily by an infantry unit such as legions or elephants. u may say priest can not go solo either, but egyptian priests with farther range can convert cats before cats strkie them.

It is pretty rare to see many villagers do attacking but they do quite abit of offensive work. Towers don't get made by themselves?

villagers are the most "important" but not the "most powerful"unit. More thoughts on "military" unit?

Villagers are most important. A player who uses 20 villagers is gonna get beaten 95% of the time when they play someone who uses 120+ villagers.
Trust me I don't think I have lost to someone who uses less villagers than me but I get beaten by nearly everyone who uses more.
I aim for 90 villagers.

Hmm seems like my original question is keep drifting off. Yes, villagers are the most important unit, and yes greater number of villagers usually is vital to winning. but what good is 200 villagers and if u have no military unit? I would like to know what military unit is considered most powerful. tell me what u think!

Curious:
I believe that no unit is the all powerful unit. Maybe elephants but they have counters, Hvy Cats very strong but still they can be countered with ease, maybe even Centurions are the most powerful but yet again they have more counters than nearly any other unit. It's up to u to decide which strats work best and which combo's work best.

rm talk again.yeah vills r important but making more doesnt mean u gonna win.most importantly is finding a balance between military and vill count.the res in rm aint unlimited and i have seen with my own eyes in an expert 1v1 game 1 guy who had 70 vills beat a 120 vill man by pouring his res into military.

Noble: I'm not seeking an answer to the "absolute" powerful unit,, of course there's none (BTW i asked for a specific civilization unit). I'm simply asking for a unit that works best for you in DM game. Otherwise why would I choose a choson legion over a Greek Centurion on an 1v1 battle. All I'm saying is which unit works for you to win a DM game. The reason I selected choson as a top unit is because about 7 out 10 times in a regular DM game, a player who chooses cho legion strategy usually wins over a player who chooses some other unit.

I'm sure I've heard this before in this forum, "The villager is the most powerful unit in AoE and RoR."

Yes villager is most powerful but talking military units I would use most and it is a complete tie (ROR not AOE) between Carth AE and Hittite Cats.
