Okay, what is WRONG with Peter Jackson, the guy who directed The Fellowship of the Ring? I mean, barring the existance of the book, the movie was good and all, but --- AHH! He totally squashed the first part of the book together, made everything the fault of poor Pippin, gave the part of Arwen to Liv Tyler and blew her part all out of proportion! Then he had the cheek to shove Elrond and Arwen down into Lothlorien and make them play Celeborn and Galadriel. And Boromir doesn't even die until the Two Towers!!! AHHHHH!!! He made Gandalf scary, and undermined the horse's roles. And Frodo might have tried to give the ring to Galadriel and Gandalf, but that wasn't the big deal that the director made it into. He made to movie about the ring, and solely the ring. There WAS a journey there too, buster, and a pretty interesting one! One can tell the way that Jackson is a fat guy (like the Comic Book Store Guy on the Simpsons) because he made all the monsters so big, and that he likes Liv Tyler. He took the paragraphs about Frodo turning Ring Wraith-ish when he put it on, and turned into into big dream sequences. He should know that people would go through the movie with a fine tooth comb and check it all. Most of the movie is quite accurate, but it should have been an hour longer. It's not like there would be a lack of funds for a LOTR movie. Hmph.

He wanted to show off his fighting tricks. actually most things you mentioned as wrong are correct - Boromir dies at the end of part 1. But he definitely overdid the fighting .

Calm down Queenie.

The film is an interpretation of Lord of the Rings. I would have liked seeing more of Gimli, but I really liked it.

So much that I've seen it twice...

Boromir actually dies at the very start of the Two Towers, but I think that it works better with it at the end of Fellowship. Otherwise the film would just tail off...

Yeah, Legolas can't be that good (even though he's one of my favorite characters), but it does mention him shooting something in the neck in the dark, but still. I wish he had just spent a little more time, and added a few parts just for the integrity of the journey and book, like the Tom Bombadil part, or letting Merry come aboard at Brandybuck Hall.

I've never read Lord of the Rings or seen the film. I have not read Harry Potter or seen the film either. I'm bored and feeling left out now.

I'm glad they left out Bombadil (Admit it, he's a freak ), but I missed the bit where Merry and Pipping get eaten by a tree, and the Barrowdowns, but you can't really have those without Bombadil.

Centy: Read Lord of the Rings - see the film.
Read Harry Potter - forget the film, its pathetic and boring (actually I haven't seen it, but I've heard about it, my brother's seen it and I trust his opinion (he liked LotR too, heheh), I've seen clips and most of the characters look wrong (uh - Harry, Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, Dumbledore...)

I'd rather see LotR again than Harry Potter (I'll still see it, just so I know what I'm talking about when I complain).

End Ranting
