Try Scythe chariots. Even then it may be tricky though. Flood them.

Odd you should suggest that. That was the last thing I had in mind. I'll see how it goes. I saved the game just at the point where I'm digging up the last gold available to me. Previously I'd wasted much wealth to upgrade to Juggernaut. But Egypt has built all its significant structures far from the water. I tried assaulting with priests, but Egypt's are stronger than mine. And I've lost too many centurions to the priests while approaching them. Scythe chariots seem to be my last chance. Maybe I can at least cripple Egypt enough to make a worthwhile assault with other units.

Remember all chariot units are harder to convert - most powerful units convert readily, especially eles and HAs - even Mace HAs - it's a damn shabme but there it is. Towers - lots and lots of them close together - are another possibility.

Shiny:
There's no accounting for tastes. I fully agree that the strat as described by wedsaz is likely to be very effective - just as the strat to bulldoze under the Iraqi soldiers in the Gulf war was very effective - it disgusted practically everybody but yes - it was the easiest and most cost-effective, not to mention safest way to get rid of them.
In short: have you guys no sense of honour left?

I'm a romantic person and you can imagine that I, like some others, felt that the fun of the game would be to build up and have a nice fight in Bronze or Iron. Then they get Stone Age rushed or Tool rushed. They prolly didn't like it. Not to get beat but because in their and my view it takes their and my fun out of the game. Of course everybody is free to play the game in the way they like - but please realise that other people may have other opinions about it.

Even scythes can be converted if there are very many priests converting them (I've seen them do it, drat them). But they're your best chance also because of the extra damage they cause.
If you want to rely on tool age units Bowmen seem to be a better chice to me because of their range. Axemen probably only work if you really flood with them.

Centy:
Two questions about that:
1. Does the CP ever research Martyrdom?
2. Is it any unse against Tool Age units like bowmen or axemen?
