I don't know what it is about the game, but I always find myself returning to it. Whether it's the hypnotic music score (so minimalist) droning in the background, or the ease of the interface ( which is so reminiscent of the point-and-click of solitaire), AOE always beckons to me. The game is so old that you'd think it cannot possibly compete with BGII or the stunning graphics of Myst III. But somehow it does.

Now, I have to admit that I cheat like hell while playing AOE. I just like to push each civ to the limits in order to see the wonders. Without cheating the opponents are usually able to make mincemeat out of me before I get anywhere near the later ages. Of course, I still find excitement in arranging my resources in novel ways to be able to resist the onslaught of waves of horse archers and charioteers.

I don't usually give cheaters the time of day...but i admire you're passion for the game...great as it is!

I like what SBE said. "I admire your passion for the game."

Now like you, I have Myst 3. Neat. Nice. Beautiful.

So what? After 15 minutes into it, I cut it off and got out my AoE Gold CD and put it in.

Is it passion? Addiction? Lunacy?

Whatever it is, I have it...

And now, completely off subject...

Has anyone got thingy, er, Black & white for PC? I'm thinking of getting it. Though I'll still probably play a LOT of AoE

Sugar is bad for you, but it's good for me.

First, my thanks to SBE for exercising the kind of compassionate reasonableness I've come to find at the Heavens Games sites.

Second, I too am curious about the Black and White phenomenon. From screen shots I've seen it doesn't look all that impressive, but neither do the Sims. I wonder if the gameplay is really so compelling.

I waiting around for Unreal 2 to come out sometime in the third quarter. In the meantime there doesn't seem top be anything on the shelves that seems interesting. The Longest Journey is interesting in its way, but, truly, it is the longest journey.
