All right, you all. And you too, Peter!
I have figured out what I am doing that is keeping me from being successful. But I had to get mad enough to see it. And I was mad!
So I started a new Nomad game, only 1 enemy, on narrows. And I built my TC right off. Then villies on wood. Then berries (as one built a house.) That was fine. Then since fish were jumping, I got a dock as soon as I had enough wood. Then a storage pit near the gazelles. And more wood, more villes, lots of boats and fish. Stone age came. And Tool. And I ended up in Bronze with tons of resources, and had lots of archers, scouts, clubmen, - yes and plenty of gold being mined. Seige workshop. Three stone throwers. And gradually I got most of the artifacts and moved them and all of the ruins!
THEN. And this is what is causing me to fail. I lost one of the ruins to the red. And immediately I had that sinking feeling and didn't want to have to fight. I wanted to start over. Or quit. I have been losing because I get overwhelmed with the set backs that occur - losing men, or ships, or ruins - or whatever. And I just lose my staying power. I lose my stamina.
But today, you all had made me so mad that I decided I was going to win no matter what! And I got in there and kept at it until I had all the ruins and all of the artifacts and just about blew the red off the map.
And I won!
So, I am not really that slow. And I am not the dumbest kid on the block. I have just been letting myself get overwhelmed when I am attacked and lose my courage and energy. And end up quitting or starting over or thinking of something else I just "have to do instead."
Anyway, I am glad you all pushed me into looking at what the problem has been. (I am sure there are more, but this is the biggie.)
So there! Sara
