Ensemble Studios are probably busily working on Age of Empires III. I wonder what ideas you would want for Age of Empires III (i.e. the name, ages, civs).

Here's mine:

Age of Empires III: Age of Colonies

Ages:
Discovery Age
Piracy Age
Conquest Age
Colony Age

Stay tuned.

(BTW: It says on the description of this forum, 'You're link to Ensemble Studios. So if that's true, where are the people from ES?)

I, personally would like to see a re-make of the original Age of Empires, but if they do indeed make a third with the age period you set forth they should have things like Falconet, cannon, heavy cannon, and maybe silver mining. They'd also have to make the walls out of wood because original settlers rarely used anything but palisade walls. Overall though I think I'd still buy it because ES makes quality, long-lasting games (as we've seen with our beloved Age of Empires 1)

MORE HORSES!!! HORSES HORSES HORSES HORSES HORSES HORSES HORSES PONIES!!! I think that in AoK you should have had to research the stirrup before getting better cavalry. In AoE 3, I think that their should be more and better horses! I find it SAD that horses in the game are so easy to kill!
Silver mining is pretty cool, but I would LOVE a better SN editor! I would LOVE to have a few extra bushes, some more plants, maybe some moss. I also think that horses should go faster, or have control over speed! They CAN gallop, you know. Not just trot. At LEAST let them canter! I use horses because they are cute and make cute noises, but also because they are faster then other units! You should be able to do different breeds, methinks, but my computer doesn't have that much extra space .
Also, a good name might be Age of... umm... er... never mind. Age of... Age... age of horses?

I read there will not be a AoE 3, and its a problem if there would be one becuase in that game it would have countries that don't like each other and still don't today- bad combo...
The ES people (along with many) left when AoK came out...

BtW, do a search on this forum for the author "ES_Sandyman" theres one ES post...

We've thought about a AoE:Enemies of Rome Expansion which would fix many problems but, Atilla the Hun is in AoK:TC and that could have been a good level...

With Age of Empires III, ES might add loads of custom features like map editor, scenario editor, random map editor and maybe even a unit editor. But that's all very well, but when it comes to multiplayer it can be annoying. I hate it when you can't play scenarios if not everyone in the game has it. So having all these editors may require an instant file send.

Anyway, why not have regenerative trees. That with the trading in the market means you will never run dry of resources.

Caesar Constantine:

I don't think so. Age of Empires III will be from 1492 (disovery of America) to about 1800s when many countries already have independence. These national wars started long after. For example, America and Russia only happened in the 1940s onwards. India and Pakistan only started fighting in 1949. I think Age of Empires II will be the last one.

My choice for civs:

Apaches
Auberingines
British
Dutch
French
Germans
Incas
Italians
Mongols (Indians)
Sioux
Spanish

and some African Tribes

I'm for a re-make of AOE1/RoR too, also maybe we gonna have more features and others stuff(I pray for this!).

I had a great hope for "Praetorians".(forgive me, it's not about ageIII, but it deserve to take a look if you don't heard about this game). It's about the Roman Empire.

Hi,i just came in and here's my Suggestion for AOE III

I Love to read history so i know all the civ history in AOE
Series.

there should be

muskets that can be upgrade with a bayonet that makes it good in both close range and long range fighting and also makes it good killing Cavalry.

British should have the famous British redcoats.

Cavalry can win musketeers that dosen't have a Bayonet Upgrade.

Archers should only be given to low Tech civs.

Archers should be render useless in AOE III

Muskets or Guns should be the Main weapon at later ages!

CIVILIZATIONS

American
British
French
spanish
Italtians
Turks
Manchus
Portugese
Dutch
Russians
Mughals
Japanese
Zulus
Ethiopians

Cannons should have

Artillery
field Cannons

Cavalry names

Light Dragoon
Dragoon
Heavy Cavalry
CAvalry Archers(Only for Native American Tribes)

Thanks for Reading this!

Err, the turks and mughals should probably have horse archers too.

British longbowmen were still in use in WWII.

You should also put in riflemen - they countered musketeers. (while still being vulnerable to cavalry)

wedsaz, you are correct i forgot to put it on!

Ships Should have two types as seen in World history at that time.

that is still using oars-power with sail and sail power only

warfare of ships should have boarding into enemy ships and capture it and cannon bombarding on each other.

boarding should be used at early ages as the game processes
cannon bombarding then later used as main.

Native Americans

these people should only have Horse archers and only leather armour because they do not use metal things till they barter with european traders with hide for guns.

These people only have flint weapons just like the Aztec and Inca Empires

but later the Natives created axes for war by finding metal or trading with european traders.

Europe

Castles should be in use till the start of cannon as the main siege weapon.

Forts made of wood should be use in AOE III as in the new world and use as scout Forts.

Religion should have two types in europe that is Protestantism and Catholic.

Units

Cavalry should be the mainstay as they start to use handguns.

Janissary soldiers of the Turks should be upgraded with Guns
and sword which they use gun to attack long range and sword for hand-to-hand fighting.

Cannons should be able to put in castles and New world Forts made of wood to be able to protect itself.

Movement

it should have types of movement

not only walking but charging that increases attack and speed at the enemy.

"know yourself and your enemy and you will never
be defeated in 100 battles."

You may want to read up on those native americans. They didn't have horses until the europeans brought some, and used other materials such as bone and obsidian along with flint. They had especially good archery, since bows and arrows don't require metal in any way (obsidian is amazingly sharp). Axes have been made out of various materials for thousands of years before even copper (nevermind bronze, iron and steel), was discovered. Their woven and bone plate armors were especially good against archery, which spanish bronze breastplates were not. In addition, archery RoF was about 3x faster than guns and crossbows (not to mention cannons), so it's no surprise cavalry was of great importance as an archery counter.

wed,you are correct!!

and about the muskets there should be earlier type of musket but i forgot this name i only remember it starts with A.

Japanese Civ should have Samurai soldiers as in history and later it became useless so musketeers became mainstay.

Rifle should be an upgrade for musket and it increases the fire rate of the musket and range.

Field cannon can be rifled to increase speed and range too.

swords became more useless in later ages as muskets can kill a swordsman even before the sword touched the musketeer and also the bayonet acts as a sword so even if the swordsman manage to reach the musketeer the bayonet armed on the musket can kill him.

Cavalry still carries sword but it also carries a handgun that increases its Effectiveness on infantry.

Light dragoon acts as a scout that replaces the AoeII's scout Cavalry and light cavalry.

dragoon acts as the shock troops of light cavalry but not scout.

Heavy cavalry replaces the knight in AOEII and carries a sword and handgun.

Um, were going into the ninetenn hundreds. The time for AoE III really will start ariund 1492 and end something like 1800. Otherwise there'' be too much difference between units. Also, with the varities of civs, if the game was carried to 1800s and 1900s you'll get a Zulu tribe with spears and a British civ with muskets and machine gunners.

Well,so maybe all of you are right!

AOEIII starts at 1492 to the 1800's

AOEIII must be a true game and a game all will like!
but the only thing is that it's a little hard to do that.

if AOEIII ends at 1800's then the japanese might be removed
as musketeers in japan only started over 1800.

i wished that this game will be the best of all.

I think 5 ages would be a good idea, since the 1st mostly consists of starting up. You may want to start the 2nd age of it sometime around 1453. This was an important date, marking both the fall of constantinople to the turks and the invention of the printing press (which was a key element in the creation of science and protestantism). 1492 could mark the 3rd age, a time of discovery and *expansion* (re: multiple TCs to create colonies, ). 1582, the gregorian calendar is adopted, seems like a good start for the age of reason (and witchcraft). 1660 - the british parliament restores the monarchy followed by Louis XIV becoming King of France in 1661 and Peter the Great becoming Czar of Russia in 1689, so 1660 seems like a good date for some kind of "imperial" age or something. You would want to end around 1760 or so when the industrial age begins. Oh, and the first machine gun was invented in 1718.

I' not sure that joke was authentic for Britain - but in Judaeae the Romans certainly attacked on the Sabbath.
Yes, Asterix is top - and in every language the translators managed to keep most of the fun. I tried French, German (for one) and read Dutch for most. But the French is still the best I think.

About ages again. I really think it is hard to put times on it. Because by the time Australia was found, S. America was a firm colony. SO here's mine with details:

Discovery Age: Age with discovery of new lands
Piracy Age: Age with minor skirmishes
Territorial Age: Age with major battles for territory and land
Colonial Age: Age where firm colonies are set up and big wars begin

New Features
How about an instructions map editor. Instead labouriously working on one for hours why not have an editor to do it for you!!!!!!!

Or a religion for every civ and so civs cannot convert othere civs' units with the same religion. (Like the French cannot convert the Spanish as they are both Catholic)

If Japan was taken out, sales would fall in Japan. ES would not want to do that and so might have to bend history.

Centurion,
i do agree with alot.
the machine gun was not common at 1718 later as it was too
expensive and hard to maintain.

it also up to ES whether they want to put the machine gun.

machine guns is a little to advance and a short of cheating to be put in AOEIII.as amachine gunner can halt even the most determind army.it's also begin common in use only in the World war 1&2.

There is going to be no Age of Empires III, at least for a while. They teamed up with Lucasarts (C) and are making Star Wars BattleGround. Go to the lucas arts homepage click on battleground.
