I've been playing a few 4v4 battles and they are turning in to a lot of fun. They have tons of Tool Wars, and when you are weaker there is a little more time to fall back and rebuild.
We oughta play more of them -- us forumers -- together.
Anyways what do you think the 4 best civs are for the ultimate 4 player team on a Medit map? We have been doing a Minoan, Hittite, Shang, Phoenician combo.
I think a 4 player team has a better opportunity for civs to specialize in their strength. I've noticed teams are a lot more integrated in their land and armies. I'm starting to consider picking Babs for their towers to compliment the navy heavy hitters on my team.
What civ would you pick in a 4v4 that you might not pick in a 2v2 or 3v3?

I'm in. I have only been in a couple 4 vs 4, quite a long time ago I might add. Anyway for me, I might pick Rome in a 4 vs 4. Some players love Rome. I personally don't have a whole lot of experience with them. Although tonight, I got Rome in a random game and actually won a 1 vs 2.(Partner resigned in early Bronze.) First time I have ever even Ironed with them I think. Thus Rome's Legion might be a nice compliment to the land army. Highly economical and quite mean. Those little dudes kick major ass when they are in hordes.
Second civ I might choose in a 4 vs 4 would be Choson. For basically all the same reasons. Enough said.
Btw, without getting too far off the subject, what is the best counter for Legion? Anyone...

Depends on the map type, but I'd want at least one slow civ perhaps two in my team combo. Egypt, bab, mace or choson are good candidates. Rome, palmy and persian would probably be more effective with a larger teams (= slower game in my experience), so I'd seriously consider having one of those. The first combo I'd try on 4v4 gig medit would probably be roman/shang/mino/hittite. Those 4 imho are the most powerful civs in RoR, being strong is several ages each. You've got rome/shang for tool, shang/mino/hittite for bronze, and rome/mino/hittite for iron. 2 land civs, 2 naval civs. 3 scythe civs and 3 hcat civs. Dang I wish I could play. I used to love 4v4s in AoE trial, even though there was no iron, and RoR seems to have interesting 4v4 possibilities... thanx for bringing this up, blitz. Now I have something to chew on while I pray for a quick return to zone play! Sumerian_Leper: Open up a new thread for the legion count, I'll reply (complete analysis as usual) there.

I think that a reveal map is actually better for 4v4's. I have played both, and I like looking at chokepoints as a team in Stone and make walling assignments.
Anyways who is up for playing some 4v4's tonight? I would say a Medit 200 pop Gig Reveal with no repeat civs on same team would be my pick.
I'm still not sure if I oughta pick a civ out of the ordinary.

LOL
Here is a funny thought. We don't have 8 forumers here at this forum to play a 4v4 game together. I was just sitting here adding it up:
Leper, Dave, Mule, and me are always on the Zone. After that...... Vlad, Mano, and Ace are on for TC. So is that all? Anyone here play this damn game anymore on the Zone?????????
Depressing!

U bet I'm in. I would be most comfortable with palmy on a 4v4, and could really pull out the stops then, with a good chance to make it to a strong bronze. After that, I would just pick a civ I'm less familiar with for practice, or hittite, to help out in the naval wars, where I have tended in the past to be little help in.

Sounds fun! Hey Sumerian Leper. I play Rome mostly for the cheap towers and half-priced buildings, but I think you're right; their legions would compliment your allies teams very well.

Rome is good for a very good toolrusher, and good in iron, but it takes a really good player to take advantage of that without help making it past bronze.
