I'm having a lot of trouble in the seventh mission in the egyptian scenario. Before I can do anything the ships are attacking my docks and then it gets from bad to worst. can anyone help. I like this game but frustrating.

Talk to peter, He's pretty much the unrecognized authority on Cpn and Scn beating. Maybe you should write up some of this stuff. like walkthroughs, peter, for AoE aqueduct, the site a few of my friends are working on. Yes that is an invatation.

Come on Darius, just because I answered a few questions I'm not the expert on solving the campaigns - most of you won them I suppose - but I finished writing a kind-of walkthrough for the Egyptian campaign.
The seventh - I don't know by heart if that's the wonder or naval battle thing. Have to look that up.
Btw you can still access the old walkthroughs (only for egypt though) in this site - from the site map if that's right.
Oops - Trading. Well, you have to realize that sometimes you can't save a building - abandon it and build another dock on the north east coast, build a big fleet there and then wipe out your enemies.
OR have all your villagers on wood and tart building scout ships like mad - right from the start that is. That way I beat it at hardest.
Still another way is to abandon your dock for a while, upgrade to Bronze and train chariot archers, research woodworking and Bronze wood tech as well so they have the same range as the enemy scout ships.

Well, I will surely vouch for Peter being a good teacher.

I'm waiting for him to write a walkthrough for "The First Punic War."

Hi Sara, welcome back. Thank you.
Well, it wouldn't be a walkthrough like for puzzle games like Myst where you could get things like: at this stage you must find a code to get through this door and the code is .....
Anyone can advise you to build lots of ships to win the Trading scenario - but you still have to do it and you have to do it fast enough. No walkthrough can take that away from you.

Sounds like a good idea to me, Peter - OK you have to be fast enough but putting together something like a set of Hint Sheets could work really well, you know, if you get stuck read this bit, stuck again read this bit and so on. You could put in what strats particularly worked for you, and also any little ways you found of dealing with things, like say you found a certain enemy easier to attack from sea than from land, or times when you found trading helpful, or the best way of beating off the CP's attacks etc.

Peter's hint sheet for newbies (and not so new) - why not? I'd probably play them all again to try 'em out, and I wouldn't be the only one I'm sure.

You could even follow it up with stuff you downloaded from the Granary and how you cracked them.

What Phil is suggesting looks rather complicated to me - you could get stuck almost anywhere. Anyway some time from now the walkthroughs of this site will be updated.

Well, ok, but you could start simple, just basic strats and stuff to watch out for, say about half a page per scenario.

Are they really getting updated? Who by? One for the Yamato campaign would be cool.

Not sure about this. Which one is mission 7? Trade? Or the big navy battle? I remember the big navy battle is very tough. I do not remember the trade one as being hard but I do remember that you have to move out around the wall of trees to the vast plain beyond. There is much stone out there if I recall and also some hunting opportunities. I think I also built a dock on the far eastern shore and ended up conducting my trade from there.

The navy battle involves securing your homeland first, chopping lots and lots of wood (get those chopping upgrades), upgrading the ships. If you can keep red off your land in the beginning and keep making ships eventually you should be strong enough to win fairly easily. I made the final landing with heavy naval cover fire. It was still a good fight but not one where the outcome ever seemed in doubt.

Try other sites for walkthroughs. Every one has a different strat. Try and try again. If you just can't win use 'home run' or just give it up and do something else!

What?????? Sasa408!!!!!! Home run is a cheat! Her's what you do:

1. Press Enter
2. Type in 'home run'.
3. Press Enter again
4. You win the scenario!

There...

Hi Cent, remember we object to cheating here?
If you use Home run you only cheat yourself - of course I use it very often - but it doesn't give that special satisfaction - and it robs you of the possibility to give others a hint or two.

What is the point of typing "home run" and seeing "You Are Victorious" come up on the screen? You don't really win. You don't learn. And you don't have that good feeling within.

Is it used just to bypass a scenario and move on?

And then when you move on to something harder, do you just type in "home run" again? And again? and again?

Looks to me like you only cheat yourself.

Where are you going, and why?

Right SaSa408, scenarioes are supposed to give you fun and I do object to cheating all the time. But if you have this scenario you can't do, isn't it better to just bypass it and do something you can or spend weeks getting mad at it? That's what home run is. A last resort!
