I've got a 200/32 RAM and I'm upgrading to a 600/128 RAM very soon. I can't wait. So look forward for my post

Well, up until 10 days ago I had an AMD 500 with 128MB. Then the capacitors in the power supply failed and the resulting power surge bypassed the fuse and blew the board and chip to hell. The inside of the power supply looks really funny, with burst capacitors and a scorched board sitting round a perfectly intact and clean fuse.

So I'm using an old 166 just to post and work with, should be getting a new board, the 500 chip is now very rare over here so I'll have to put in at least a 600 Duron on the new board when it comes in. To save further upgrading I'll get a board that takes both Athlon and Duron chips, up to 1000, then just drop new chips in when I get the cash.

The 500 was a nice chip, tho, very stable with a nice turn of speed. Enjoy, Vlad.

96 RAM? Thats and "odd" upgrade. Unless you just added a 64 chip in with your 32.

For the athlon, duron, t-bird, or any other chips of the athlon family, be sure you have a 300 watt power supply. Other computers only require 230, and only a few ship with as much as 250.

Well windows doesn't benifit from anything oer 128 RAM. In other words, it doesn't change a thing, if you have 1 gig of RAM or 128. I'm not too sure about win 2000 PRO, but all the others, 3.1/95/98/98SE/ME, stop at 128.

I have some good assessment progs and I can assure you that I use all 196 megs of my memory. Perhaps you are thinking of an access limit, as in memory can't be gathered from a range of addresses spanning over 128 megs...that wouldn't surprise me. Or maybe no single prog (or explorer itself) can use more than that. If it's explorer itself, it's a good thing.

Well I read that in PC World mag, so I'm not making this up. But I'm not expert. I never said I was. I'm just going by a reliable source. I'll read the article again and make sure, but like "PETER" said, commen sense and microsoft go togather like hoppers against cavelry.
