wedsaz: I thought researching coinage only lets villagers work faster; it doesn't increase the amount of gold in the mines, or does it?

It *says* it does, I don't know if it's true.

I tried; built a scenario with Assy in Iron; researched coinage and yes; they carried 16 gold after that and they gathered 499 gold instead of 400. Probably they also worked 25% faster, but I didn't check that. Hm; I always see them loose one food with berries too, and sometimes one wood on trees; I wonder how come, but in my view it's a dirty trick. Perhaps it should be fixed too.
I also wonder if this is fair on civs who can't research coinage.

and which civs would that be? egypt saves a ton by scythe flooding, palmy has a trade bonus, persian has a strong iron military, shang usually wins before iron, and sumie has a good late-game econ because of the farm bonus
I'd say it's pretty fair, at least as fair as the no tribute tax it also gives.
