lol. Sort of a stupid question to ask, but why do people cheat?! To win? To prove there pathetic idiots? Or just becuase they enjoy killing rookies and love the color red. One thing for sure is that there just proving they can be idiots without losing too. ;-)

They cheat because their too stupid and too lazy to try and improve their playing skills. It's sorta the American way really. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to do what it takes to get there.

I have played with the trainer offline, but I'm just not sure I wanna play with it online. Right now I have the anti-trainer installed from Vlad's site, but I think too many people can just turn it off.

How do you define cheating? Just using these cheat codes is of course a sign of weakness. But you can also say that 'anything goes'. If it's available, why not use it? many players bust the pop limit, or they use macros, play on the (repaired) wood bug when their opponents know nothing about it and I think it's all equally bad. but nobody complains about that, it's just being clever.
(mind you: I don't play multiplayer games, so nobody needs to take this personally as nobody took me in that way)

Well, I'd just like to say that I don't think macros are a real problem IF there is honesty. Macros just make the game more fun and enjoyable, by giving you more control, and the opportunity to customize your controls down to a personal interface that works for you. It lets you think more about strategy, less about moving the screen from place to place, or pressing a long sequence of buttons. As for cheats, cheaters, and pop limit busters, they have GOT to GO.

HonoredMule:
Quite right about this cheating. the point is, some folks use these macros when others never heaard about them. For me, that's plain cheating.
Tell ES to entirely throw out cheat codes, that's the only solution. Having them in SP games is not really good either, it just spoils the sport of the game.

I'm not sure we should remove ALL cheats, some are very useful for developers. Now the bigdaddies, resource, photonmen, and baby prez can go, but we need no fog, reveal map, home run, and killx. Unfortunately, It appears that the latest thing, the map hack, doesn't use the cheats anyway, and is a real hack. Just removing won't completely fix the problem, and ES would be very much discouraged against doing that by all the cheaters who would raise such a ruckuss. At lease we can try to through out the important ones, and none need to be available in multiplayer. So far, the single player cheats have not been successfully used in multiplayer without a sync error, and that is good at least.
