I know that there is the government center, yet I'm not satisfied with a little building at which you can just research stuff. In some version of AoE or AoK in the not-to- distant future, it would be cool if the political/governmental side was represented as follows:
1.One of the buildings you can build right off the bat in the stone age would be your center of politics for the rest of the game.
I dont know what it would be called in the beginning- maybe just the town hall or something. It would be different from the town center in that you dont make villagers there, but you can assign vills there and they serve as a political type guy (just another job, like farmer, miner, hunter).
The more people you have there, the faster people gather, hunt, build, chop, etc. These stone age politicians would be called the "council of elders", or something.
2. In the tool age, after the agricultural revolution, you would be able to choose the exact system of government that your civ will operate by. The options for this would include:
A.Democracy- standard, easy sort of stuff. Pretty much the same system as the stone age one- assign vills to the gov. center and they act as represtative- the more reps, the smoother things go. Greece would get bonuses with this system, since they invented it.
B. Military Dictatorship- You would have to select one of your regular military units like cav or whatever, and assign them to the government center. They would be the sole ruler of your civ- taking orders only from god (you). They would get bonuses in HP and all, and so would all of your military units. You could only use this system when you have atleast one declared enemy. Things such as techs relating to war would fast to research and some others things would go faster, but your vills would have decreased gathering and woodchopping (due to living under a regime of fear.
There are other forms of government out there, but I cant think of them at the moment. If anybody thinks this idea is anything but completely stupid, dont hesitate to post your idle fantasies about how you think this great game could be better!
