Mine would have to be Macedonian. The age that I am best at is bronze, and the Macedonians are excellent in the bronze age. Their hopilites get 3 bonuses!. They have a +2 sight, +2 piercing armor, and are resistant to conversion. That neutralizes all but 1 of the hopilites' weak points, being so slow that most unit outrun them. But the macedonians neutralize that by getting cavalry with conversion resistance and +2 sight.

For me, I'd have to say palmyran.
Their villagers are special, it takes some practice to get them right but they can build up a strong economy very fast.
They don't have the 25% tribute tax, which is great because I like tribbing.
They also have a trading bonus, which can help for long-term gold supply.
However, their camel bonus is a joke. Even if they were 25% faster (it's actually 12.5%) it wouldn't change very much.

The more I play, the more I like Minoan and Hittite. Yams are great too, but I tend to have trouble with them in Iron (if there is an Iron).

Minoans can out econ most civs on boom maps (medit/conti), and have strong Bronze with Compie/ST combo and have HC's in IRON.

Hittites have the great war boats, and a mean CA/ST combo in Bronze. Iron is mainly HC's and Scythe with Ele's mixed in. HHA can be a fun option too. Hittite can do a Tool archer rush without much backfire, researching archer leather because you need it for your CA's.

I play these two the most these days and the Tool Navy war between the two comes down to who has more wood(=who boomed less). I see either civ beat each other on sea in Tool nightly on Zone.

Yams can beat both in Tool and Bronze on Sea, but unless you either Scout or Cavalry rush, you can have probs with Minoans or Hittites, especially if they still have FB's.

If my opponent is Yam, I pick Minoan. If they are Minoan I am Hittite. If they are Hittite I am Yam. Any other civ I play against I pick Hittite, unless Shang, then it is back to Yams. These picks are all for 1v1 huge conti all defaults with no reveal.

Used to be Sumerian, until I became aware of all the holes they have in tech the tree. Now days, I would have to say Hittite. Mostly, because I have been playing them alot and tend to like the + 1 archery attack for bronze. Don't like the lack of econ bonus's, however they make up for that with a quite a nice military selection. Hittite_Leper will soon be coming to a RoR game near you.

Rome is my fave. No feeling quite like getting swordies pumped from 3 rax continuously into a guys woodies and town, at 16 minutes, with 50 vills while gaining sea and tc pumping

I like Hittite and have never gotten over yammy

strange thing is my least favorite unit is cats. I just happen to like HHA which is their common combanation...
Hittite has strong attacking HHA yammy has cheap building HHA

thing that really makes me mad is in the last few games I played I was forced to build cats in order to defeat the enemys cats...
I shall avenge the death of ohh so many yammy calv being killed by monster cats in my early games

I kinda have 3. Hittite, Assyrian, Macedonian. Hittites lack the speed, Assyrian lacks key techs, and Mace lacks engineering. If its a 2v2, I am almost always Assyria. If it is a 3v3, if I have a Minoan enemy at all, I go Hittite. If they have no Minoans, I go Mace. This is for a standard start, cont or inland map default resources and age. If someone held a gun to my head and commanded me to pick one civ forever and ever I would have to go with Assyria. Good all around speed, great peon killers in tool, bronze, and iron ages. I make it to iron more with Assyria than any other civ. Their eco allows me to crank out ha's and still upgrade to heavy cats pretty quickly, which even Hittite cats in Iron age bow to. No one upgrades to Heavy cats in a default game anymore and so the Hittite usually doesn't notice. He just sees that his mighty 150 hitpoint catapults are losing the battle and he doesn't think to check my cats out to see that they are heavies. Full range Assyrian chariot archers are a pain for even scythes to deal with after all the gold is gone if you understand how to spread them out. They keep the heat on his peons from a distance the whole game. If you can tower up heavily, you can be successful after all the gold has been mined. Assyria is far from perfect but can be a great rushing civ, or a boomer on an equal resource map. So having said all that, Assyria is it for me. (This will probably change if I lose with them tonite)
