Hey, you might be running low on ram, try going to www.download.com , and getting a program called rambooster. just search for it, it helped my computer out with AoK...

It did not work, would anyone with RoR care to get the saved game on my computer and try to play it on yours, and maybe save it as a differant file... Though I know it will work on yours, my luck-- but its worth a shot I reinstalled it this time on maximim install, did not work.

There isn't realy that much to "get". For some reason or another the game files get corrupted and no matter what you do, they cant be saved. There are few thing you can try.
1. reinstall aoe. but make sure you uninstall it first, and delete any leftover folders or icons.
2. update to the latest version of directx
3. turn down your hardware excellaration (control pannel, system, performance tab, and then click on graphics
4. when playing the game, shutdown everything but explorer and systray, and turn off the sound. changing screen resolution might help too.

Caesar: I've had this corrupted saved file problem a few times myself. The problem is random and is simply that the save/load operation is buggy. It therefore probably has nothing to do with the graphic card, direct x, memory, re-installing etc... Most likely, the save operation is writing something to the saved game file that the load operation cannot understand. The load gets confused and then simply gives up and does a program exit - which is a simplistic and unfriendly approach taken by many programmers.

Here's what I do: whenever I get to a plateau point in a campaign (especially one that was hard to attain), I save a version of the game. So if ever you discover that the last version is corrupted, you can delete it and revert back to the previous version. That way you can minimize the lost data (and time).

Thanks

I think that every time I save I'm going to save it three times, and triple the chances of the file that I saved being okay... but I'll just not have to save so much... And like you siad,,, but it's strange that it did not happean much until now...
