Search using yahoo, they can find the cheapest on the net. I wouldn't buy mine online though, unless it was from a store that was near to my house. If you have problems with it, it can be a ***** and a lot of time to get you computer fixed and back to your house. A friend of mine just bought a gateway that was giving him hell, wouldn't boot. He had to send it ups to the nearest place of theirs to get it fixed (1 1/2 hours away) and didn't get it back for 6 weeks. When he did get it back, the cd rom didn't work and had to send it back for that. In all, after spending 1200 on a new pc, he had to go 2 1/2 months without it. When i bought mine i went to sears and bought the in-home service plan. Sure it cost a little more, but whenever i had a problem, they came to my house with the parts and fixed it while i watche tv

Thank you Butch I agree the inhome service plan is cool. I'll get the good warrenty for my new computer too

I'm shopping here : http://www.pcnation.com /

PCnation is rated #1 for online service, we shall see & I'll buy a major brand so any service needed is done with out delays.

these guys have really good prices, and stuff like cheaper systems with "some assembly required." They will give you excellent prices on individual components, too. If you are not a computer expert, however, DO NOT buy a computer online. There are too many ways to get screwed, and only local stores (NOT Large outlets ie staples) will give you good service, honest sales, and still decent prices. A good computer vendor will happily supply a lot of info like the motherboard, drive speed, ram speed, refresh rates for each resolution, modem (56k don't mean crap), etc. plus good waranties, practical upgrades (ie printers, 17" monitors) and so on. You will find that a small store can only afford to get the "good" stuff, wheras larger ones, esp. internet ones, have a vast targeted audience for cheap crap. I hope this helps.

(ps, I got my computer at a small local store and got a "little" screwed, nothing serious. The only way to get that computer that is perfect for you is with a custom build, which a good outlet will do, and I don't mean start with a predefined platform and build up, which online sites do, and still gets ya screwed.) TBW, I if you are concerned about my expertiese, I will be spending about 3000 this summer custom building a 4000 dollar second computer for networking, server work, 3d modeling, etc. I couldn't come close to the system I have planed out with any outlet, save one that will do a true custom build, and even if you could do that online, you would pay an unreasonable fortune for it.
