I just did a test to find out how much slower a fish pit is in RoR copmared to AoE. To my surprise I found out that shore fish is now actually slower than berries.

I had 4 villagers shore fish 4 fish spots one tile away form a fish pit and 4 peons forage 4 bushes of berries one tile away from a granary. The avarage amount of food per second for the fish was 0.56 for the berries it was 0.43.

Can anyone confirm this data ?

Everything that I've seen and read says they are equal.

Well gonzo, your tests seem about right, but your conclusions are wrong. According to your post, fish brought in .56 food/sec which is MORE than the .43 food/sec that came in from the berries. From what I've heard, shore fish are now gathered at .6 food/sec and berries at .45 food/sec and your test results are similiar to those figures.

Dashingdave you are right of course. Thanks for pointing this out to me. I was so surprised that there was still a difference that i took the wrong conclusion from the data. I did the test again and it confirmed my data. It is a bit less than you report but this can probably be explained by the configuration of the test. I took one tile distance from pit or granary and 4 villagers per pit or granary. This means some villagers have to walk a bit further than others.

For the game it means that a pit is still more interesting than a grananry. Especially if you can pit near a forrest, which happens quite often in RoR med or continental maps.
