I played a game last night, which made me rethink the way you have to use cats in RoR. As my team won the game I’m glad to make a small report here I had the middle position so I chose to boom a little and accept a slow tool and bronze time. This worked very well because i had a good economy during the whole game (more than 3 hours). We succeeded in mastering the sea in the early game but unfortunatly Ying got disconnected rather soon. So it was 2 vs 3. Willfeen and me were convinced that we would get fried but Tartans don’t give up easyly About this time the sumerian attacked us on the left side. It would probably have been the end of us because we had massive hurds of cats on both flanks. Fortunatly the Sumerian got disconnected to so it was 2 vs 2 now. We were still on the defensive. The hittite attacked us with masses of heavy cats and EA’s. I don’t remember how many times we had to rebuild our houses, but we managed to survive all his attacks. I always had less cats than the hittite and as everyone knows hittite cats have double hit points. So how could I survive ? I think the answer has to be found in micromanagement. All his cats were in one clumb together. I made sure to space mine and to make smaller groups. His large groups could not manoevre very well and when i hit them, they took more damage per hit than mine. I took heavy losses but he was hurt even more more and he did not heal his cats. As I had a good economy I had gathered much gold and at the end our better economy made that we could win. His cats and EA were to slow to catch my villagers. Of course i got them out of the way as soon as I saw his army arrive. My patrner upgraded to Scythe Chariot and had a massive army of them. By that time gold was depleted and could only be gathered by trading. So the Scythe Chariots were a great asset. By then I think the minoan opponent got dissapointed that they had given away a winning position and he resigned. I immediatly gathered my fleet and destroyed all the enemy docks so the hittite could not trade anymore. The massive hurds of Scythe Chariots and my cats did the rest and after three hours the other resigned also. When i looked at the achievement screen after the game i had a positive saldo (kills vs losses) of 200 while the hittite had a negative saldo. If anyone has some more ideas of how to deal with heavy cats, I would like to hear them. Tartan_Gonzo
