"The best site for internet game information in the WORLD". Just like to get that in first. Excellent and well put together, I now only use Heaven for my/our needs....brill! keep it up.
Now! Being an AoE player since its releast and now, RoR user too I have had the pleasure of testing most of the campaigns in your gallery. Also many friends of mine have, if they have had the time, followed in my foot steps. Before I continue let me first state our playing level or level's. Not going into all formats of AoE/RoR as this would take too long lets just use the default level thats normally played up at the 'Zone'. The only way to be one of the elite and I/WE mean the ELITE is to do a 13 minute BRONZE and most of us can produce this level as least 50% of the time, so any person who thinks they are good can only be elite if the above standards are achieved. So whats this got to do with Campaigns. Well, I use these campaigns to improve my game but very few of my friends do and I felt they are missing out on some good well thought out campaigns. I asked how many had completed the Campaigns that came with AoE/RoR and was surprized how many had not, and following this I wanted to know why. Let me just tell you the most common reply...."These campaigns take too long to win". What they are getting at is: the best campaigns in AoE/RoR and up at Heaven are all easy to win, but the only way to do this is by playing them over and over again until you work out all thats needed about units, maps and 'time factor' if a 'time factor' is used. When all this has been collected most campaigns can be won in a very short time indeed. I went on to downloading only the campaigns that you reviewed thinking that these may be the type of campaigns that could improve our game but sadly 'no', so in the end I decided to build my own campaigns and let them (friends) give me any feedback I could use to improve the campaign if needed. This work just perfect after some time (I had to get use to this 'building campaigns' thing) and now are improving their game to quite high standards. You see, what was needed in the campaigns was a default setting which copied playing up on the Zone/Wireplay etc, and this was a way to improve without being online all the time. And so if any players wanting to improve their speed the above idea works, use it right and find out for yourself. Now to the reviewed campaigns: While I was building my campaigns and being a very good CHESS player I put together so many campaigns that just before RoR came out I quickly put together and uploaded to Heaven my campaign 'Age of Chess'. Using no real story or age I felt users may like some of the tricks I put together over the first few campaigns I had made. After playing all the campaigns that Heaven reviewed I felt the marking level would be a little better if a 'speed element level' was added to the total overall points system too. When you play at default level in multiplay, speed is the key...i.e. 13 to 15 minute bronze should win the game. If Heaven had this 'speed element level' points system then people like me and many others would download and use to improve. Now that would be great for me, I would not have to keep making campaign after campaign that are just based on my ideas. So come on Heaven, add that little point to the reviews, please!!!. I am now finished (I bet your glad). Oh! by the way. If anyone wants a very good but tricky campaign, I will be uploading 'Age of Chess II' (RoR) to Heaven soon. This will have a speed element in a few of the campaigns but more than that it will need the mind of a Chess player with lots of logic, thats all you need to know right now as full instruction will be in the campaigns. And if anyone wants a taste of my campaigns try my first one I uploaded 'Age of Chess', not my best but then I did rush finishing it off because RoR was now with me. tetra46
