The withdrawls are kicking in already, huh. Just space those home visits evenly enough so you don't have to go too long before the next fix.

I would post something, but then I never actually have a good game.

Hey Mark!
I think I can help you out with a "war story". Sarmis is holding a mini tourney of itís own and it started last Sunday. It was the best game of ROR I have played to date. When I say best, Iím not talking about my performance, but the quality of the game. Keep in mind that I am no expert. Iím average at best on a good day.
The teams: The Brotherhood (Parmenion & me) vs. "the team that need no name" (Leander & Lynx)
The settings: Default, Huge Med. Map, pop 150.
Civs: Phoe & Hittite vs. Phoe & Hittite (LOL!! I thought this was funny how it worked out) Parm & I had briefly discussed a "strategy" and which civs we would pick before the game and then we find our opponents have decided on the same.

Anyway, game starts and our "strategy" goes out the window. Iím Hittite and decide Iím gonna tool rush and tell Parm he can "take the seas" (nice of me, huh?). My scout crawls around the map over to the other side of the Med and drops a barracks. By the time Iím tool I have two barracks up. I started pumping clubbers and getting upgrades. You might have already guessed, my tool attack was late, man it is a long way around the Med. I end up attacking Leander, who was Phoe. I end up killing a few peons and knocking down a few buldings. Because I was late he was walled in pretty good. I even make archers at my forward base hoping to harass him behind his walls. No good. I canít find an opening, so I figure it is about time for me to concentrate on Bronzing. I leave the few archers I have at my forward base and gather up my axers and send them on a suicide mission in the direction I think Lynx will be. I got lucky. I couldnít have picked a better place to send them if I could see where to send them. My axers roll into Lynxís town right into a gaggle of peons. However, by now she is Bronze, so they donít last long with CA shooting at them, but I at least got a few peons out of the deal. In the mean time Leander starts raiding me. DOH!!!! My tool attack must not have scared him too bad. I make a few archers to deal with it and place some walls while Iím going Bronze. Once Bronze I start pumping out some Cav back home and I find his forward base. Meanwhile, my forward base is under attack by Leander. To make a long story short we end up killing each otherís forward base. Leander just would not let me get a cluster of Cats together. His camels would keep coming in during an attack and surgically remove them for me. While this is going on there are Naval battles going on all over the Med. Parm gets a good push on Lynx in Bronze and manages to Iron first, then his Triemes clear the Med. So, I finally enter Iron and we have the sea. I start throwing to together an Iron force of Cats, eleís, and HA. Iím grabbing the stuff as it is made at and near my starting base and sending it on the long hike over to Leander. Leander promptly catches my slow ass Cats by themselves with Camels and kills them. DOH!!! Step back, build a few more units and move forward again, this time under a little more control and with some peons to build a forward base. Fighting erupts around my new forward base and at a few isolated pockets I find of Leanders where he has walled in small areas for peons to work in. I finally push him off my forward base only to march a short distance and find he has a base not too far from it. We fight some more there. I kept changing my unit mix to try and get an edge and Leander kept coming up with the counters. I make eleís he has priests. I make Scythe he has eles. It was a really fun game and Leander and I just kept banging heads and exchanging positions. Parm was making headway with Lynx, but then Leander had to go. A "real life" commitment (work related) pulled him from the game. We got started late because Parm had a "real life" commitment (inlaws visiting). So, now we have to do a rematch since we didnít finish. DOH!!! It was a great game. I was on the edge of my seat.

It is still a fun game Mark!!! Honest. Maybe it is because I still feel new to the game and I didnít play AOE. Anyway, look us Sarmis people up when youíre on the zone. We have a blast!

well, i've been playing alot lately w/ some friends of mine, that are mostly rookies. i'm a rook, too, but these guys are more raw rook than i am. earlier games were kinda bland, as you can imagine. then, i point them towards a few web sites, including AOEH, some guides, including CD's Crappy Bz. next thing i know, i am triple tool rushed from different directions, while sships are sinking my fbs. i run my vills to 2 sep locations, and CAs hunt them down all. lol.

Hey Mark.
I know you have. In fact I think I was in a game with you one time. I'm not exactly sure since I'm so bad at remembering names and stuff. You were on the other team though Traitor. LOL!! I have heard your named mentioned by Vix & Wuz on our forum, so I know you have played with Sarmis. Anyway, look me up some time if you want to see some "strategy" that will make you laugh.

My zone name is Sarmis_Zeke

heres a game that you might remember Mark...
Darth ryan *barf* King_baba and you vs pet. me and Bilbo1977k (Don_quixote (sp?)). I lost my TC at 5 mins and Baba and Darth dropped about the same time. I lost it b/c of my clumsy fingers, and I hit the delete key when not chatting, and I had about 50 wood, and no storage pit so.. b/c I was in the pocket, I managed to get 100 wood from Bilbo, so I actualy Bronzed, and got a few Compies out (Minoa) but his Mace hoppers shredded them.. especially when they became phalanxs well, I'd really call that a BAD game, b/c we lost a 3v1! then he made an IP game name = I just won a 3v1!

You shouldn't complain so much, Poke. Remember that Pet almost managed to attack me. He also made the cutest comment --- "I feel like an annoying mosquito here". This spoken by an Ironed Hittite who fought against an Ironed Mace.

But please, folks, there has to be some good games still going on out there --- even without me.

G'day Mark! Story time!

I had a good game the other day. It was a 3v3 gig coastal, 175 pop, default start. One side was me (DarkRain), Mano and Wuzat (go team Sarmis!). Our opponents were AoERat and for the life of me, I can't remember (hey that's a song ) the other two. Anyway, I was in a good spot for it so I did a sort of a half boom and fumbled into tool around 13:00. I bronzed quickly afterwards and AoERat (Egyptian??) came knocking on my door with chariot archers. (It was also around this time that one player on the opposing side got dropped and soon after Wuzat announced that he had to leave and the game became a 2v2).

From this point on, I had a great time. I walled in between my trees and tried to keep any land based units out. I had three TC's by now and was fast on the road to iron. Mano was having a tiff with a player across the shallows from him whilst AoERat was sending in triremes!

With the triremes incessantly attacking me in one of those thin pieces of water you get down the side of a coastal map, I had a rough time. Mano started getting sick of me begging him for naval help so I pumped villies out of my forest TC and knocked up some docks.

If there's one thing I like about Hittite's boats (and there's not much) it's their +4 attack war galleys. A group of these babies give a fleet of triremes a hard time. I held of AoERat's attacks (just) and proceeded to iron.

In late bronze, I was greeted by a wave of AoERat's CA which I despatched with chariot archers (I think...can't remember ). It went quiet for a while back home so I built some ranges in Mano's territory and helped out with the enemy across the shallows with my HA. During this time, my woodies back home (not my main group) were attacked over the top of the trees with stone throwers. As if this weren't enough, in came the scythes, tris and cats from the other opponent. I kept walling and started building eles. The game was heating up big time. I was overrun in the end. AoERat was into the eles and I was out of gold (sorry for leeching your gold Mano )

This was a fun game even though we lost. AoERat's constant attacks kept me on my toes. It was a great defensive exercise (expecially when you have no towers ). Good game guys And thanks for the defensive help Mano
