Gewd, in world history today we were going over some of the ancient civilizations. The teacher brought up Phoenicia, Babylon, Persia, and a couple others. Well after he said these names I said their bonuses in AOE/ROR out loud. Everyone looked at me like I was whacked up or something.

Does anyone else have any similar experiences?

PS Just ignore some of my posts that I'm going to post below, I want to find out how many times I've posted messages on all my aliases.

School hasn't started for me yet but I remember last year my teacher was talking about Greece and their powerful Phlanxes(sp?). I then raised my hand and said, "Actually wouldn't the centurian or dual siege be better?"

my ancient history teacher last year had problems. we spent a month going over the technological advances in the maya empire, but she never once brought up the sumerians. She said, and i quote "all the civilizations in that area (middle east) were all pretty much the same, they just fought a lot"
i'm sorry, but isn't which civilizations killed other civilizations just as important as who grew corn and fed an entire country?
I mean, the Hittites, the Elamites, the Akkads, and especially the Sumerians were all important civs we never once talked about. I think she may have mentioned the Persian empire once when discussing Alexander the Great, but i don't even remember hearing a word about the Assyrians, and they were the rome of 1500 bc!
That class made me mad, teachers not teaching important stuff and all. sorry to post this here, but reading it made me think of my history teacher and her poor teaching plan.

Well at the moment we're discussing the Hittites, Assyrians, Babylons, Phonecians, and some others.

The other day I was sitting in a traffic jam and I was thinking about how a group of composite bowmen might come out of the nearby woods and really cut us apart since we were sitting ducks in our horseless chariots. So I started plotting where I could fit some buildings in nearby fields to prepare a defense...

in the end...there can be only one

Well, this just proves that because you have played Age of Empires, you have learned more from it then from school. So why can't they let us play Age of Empires during history class??

Some time ago, a bunch of colleagues decided to hold a li'l conference in my office. Since I had some important stuff to do, I found this rather annoying and actually thought it would be nice to draw a box around them w/ the mouse and then right-click them outta the office. Needless to say that didn't work, but it serves to show that I was thinking in terms of RoR. Must've happened after a long night on the zone...

LOL Highlander... you do like those compies.. and if you live anywhere near Chicago, you get plenty of thinking time in traffic jams.

LOL Vixen... you actually have a job with an office ?!!? Why you must be superwoman to go to bed every night at 4 or 5 or even 6 in the morning and then be at a job by 8 or 9 o'clock !!!

we're studyin all those civs too. in class today our teacher asked what was a major factor in deciding where to settle and build their town. well one of my friends and a fellow ager answered "put the town center near wood and berries, and the storage pits near wood, gazelle and gold."
the class had no clue wat he was talking about and the teacher just looked at him like he was crazy. hehehe..i guess ur not the only one to mix up AoE/RoR with real life.

He he funny thread !

I constantly think of things in ROR terms.. a bit like Vixens box ‘em and chuck ‘em out lol !

My 6 year old son is a ripper though he constantly refers to how everything looks like ROR !

“Hey day that building looks just like a Hittite government centre”

“Those trees look so real just like ROR”

“That looks just like a Shang wonder”

“I”d like to use a catapult when I play marbles at school”

I am getting worried the game is distorting his reality !

PS Just as a little aside are you wondering how well a six year old plays ROR… well he doesn’t play online.. but with very little help from me he learnt a good way to win all the time He hates attacks and just likes building. He discovered early on to play deathmatch, easy, 1 opponent and build a wonder.. he just goes on building other stuff until the clock winds down and he is a winner !

Oh man... .

I was talking to a whole bunch of guys about something, and said "THAT LOOKS LIKE AN Armored Elle!" They looked at me like what the heck? Another time, I said something like move it, you dang hopper!

Man was I red...

LOL Fatal

Yea, I've had plenty of experiences with AoE/RoR mixing up with real life. I remember one time on my school track team (I'm the captain btw this year ) I was watching some people run the 400 meters. Than, I said out loud, Hmm... that's not as fast as my rush. And another instance was when I was talking to FWH_Cheetah (also on the track team) and asked him, should I boom late on this race or rush early?

God, I'm glad I'm outta that phase (err.. hope I'm outta that phase)

"LOL Fatal" It's Reeces sorry, not Fatal. Anyway, I remember when I was on vacation in New Zealand and my Grandmas bird sounded like 2 armored eles attacking each other.

The other day I was at the computer to check my e-mail. I click to open my mailbox and I know the next thing that comes up is a dialog box for my password. My hand moves to the key board. The box comes up and that is when I notice my fingers are poised over H & C. LOL!! There is no H or C in my password at all. I was getting ready to start a game of ROR I thought it was kind of funny. I was kind of "zoned out" and not really thinking about what I was doing, just going through the motions and my "ROR start stance" took over.

Hehe that happens to me sometimes...

But with a lot of games... so when I go to play EQ and I notice that I'm ducking and not moving, I shouldn't have my fingers on W, A, S, and D (the foward backward strafe left strafe right key settings I have for half-life and Quake ) but on the arrow keys, and vice versa (doh!)

I try to keep my key binds strait tho hehe

The only easy day was yesterday

last year in world history class, we where doing a project about designing our own village on paper, i took command of my group and we ended up making a town that was walled off by a river with 3 docks a town centre, fishing boats temples houses barracks, stables, siege workshops, towers, archery ranges, war ships, villagers, resource gathering sites w/ storage pits and graneries, goverment centers, academys, markets, a nice military compliment(but it would take alot of space ot type it down so i'll save you the time of having ot read it ) and it was called habadacus...... that sound familiar to anyone?

and after-wards, i kept looking at other peoples villages and think, HA!! we could take them any day any time!!
