Use slingers with chariots and CA's in bronze. I know many other people have probably already done this, but I havent seen a post on it yet so here it is. I just tried it and it works very well. Send the slingers to get rid of the towers while the Chariots get rid of the priests and hand to hand units. If a slinger gets converted, theres not that much damage he can do to the rest of your forces.

Not only would the slingers work well for towers, they rock against archers. (Duh!) It would be a great idea if you overboomed. Use that extra food on the slingers. You will have to put a villger on stone, however, to keep producing a constant flow of slingers. 1 villager can almost supply enough stone for 2 slingers. With stone mining he can easily supply 2. The stone mining upgrades slinger AP and range, i think. Another nice thing about the slingers is they don't cost wood, allowing you to go heavy on CAs/Chariots/ST. Stone throwers take out towers much nicer than slingers ;-).
Why not use slingers in compy battles. If you're fighting on the water and can't afford stone throwers, build slingers. If I faced an army of compies/slingers with my army of compies, I'd shoot the compies.

Those slingers may turn the tide if you end up in a CA vs. CA war especially if the opponenet has suped-up CA like Assy, Hitt, or Eggy. I know alot of Assy/Hitt players who pump CA like mad and use them for base defense as well as offense, so after you knock out thier CA you can have pretty free reign to thier villies.
I like the idea and for the cheap cost of slingers it is probably worth trying out a few times.
Thanks for the post.

The only problem with slingers vs. compies is that compies(espicially minoan) can outrange the slingers and a group can kill them before they are in range.

Cornflakes, why do you think I said,
quote:"Use slingers with Chariots and CA in bronze."
Why would anyone send only slingers across the board in bronze? Lets see, what can kill slingers in bronze? ANYTHING THAT ISNT AN ARCHER OR A TOWER! The chariots are fast enough to get to the compies before suffering major losses, and if they're Egyptian, have enough hitpoints to last for a long time. Egy Chariots with nobility will have somewhere around 145-150 hitpoints, as opposed to 115 for other civs. Also, this is why you upgrade the slingers before sending them out. Without the extra piercing armor they would definately we slaughtered when attacking a tower or CAs. Without fast and powerful units to protect the slingers, whats the point of making them?
