I was watching a game today when one player was building walls and was attacked. He panicked and when he moved his cursor quickly somehow a line of walls suddenly appeared. they werent built yet, but the foundations were there. Is this like the farm bug, and is it considered cheating on the zone?

Not really... more like a convenience for the people who build walls. You can do it too! Select a villager, press B, then W (assuming that you have the wall tech researched). Then hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse across the screen.

It'd be bad if we had to click on each tile to build a wall...

No that is the way that you build walls in AoE and RoR.As Angel Zen said it would be very hard for you to build every wall individually.

Thanx. I guess thats why I never really walled. Chalk another new lesson learned. Maybe now I can wall without worry and concentrate on more important things in tool. That opens up a whole new part of the game for me. Now I added a notch to my defenses and i dont have to worry too much about that tool rush.....

THANX AGAIN!!!!!

Did he actually build those walls? Or did he put those walls down just to stall your attack? From what I hear from you, I don't think it's cheating, because it sounds like he was going to build the wall anyways.

It IS cheating if he lays down a wall, not to build it, just to stall you--by the time you shoot down the wall foundations, he runs away, and that's cheating, it's called phantom walling. The other way people use it is that, your villagers are running away, and all of the sudden wall foundations appear in front and in back of your escaping villagers. Yes, your villagers will knock down the foundations, but by the time they do, his chariot archers will have found you and killed your villagers.

I've had problems with instant walling. I would often have the wall insted of becomeing straite, it would be bent. And if I have to move the mouse off screen, the screen seames to scroll super quick. Add all that with lag, and you'll build a wall across the world by acdent. not fun when you see loads of stone go down in one plop...

PIEMON, now i know what you mean. i did ok when i walled my choke points off, but when it came down to it the walls were going all crazy bent and such and i found out it sucks to have a huge wall section built where you dont want it. I had to delete all the foundations. what a waste of stone. I guess its one of those things you have to know what your doing and take it easy or else your hurtin.. the foundations dont do too much for stopping. mostly for the distraction.
But it did stop that annoying tool slinger rush from JAJAZ "oops".

1,2,3,4, I need to learn more. OOHH RAHHH!!!!

In response to Piemon and armor if that happens and u don't want to lose the stone just cancel each construction, It may be timely but at least it saves the stone.

Note: Cancelling construction gets back 1/2 the resources spent. Cancelling upgrades refunds you all resources.
