Anyone find it strange that most people don't play with walls I mean they are really cheap and can hold back anything except the siege weapons who block through them or over them or the more powerful units. The other mistake I see is people who do play with em don't leave them selves a way out so they are held in by infantry and cats finish the rest. Anyone else know when walls are usefull?

P.S. I think its strange that everyone is waiting for AoK but no one builds castle's in RoR especially with romans who have cheap towers. Even if it does take time you set a mark and when you've built up your castle's it can be fun to siege em.

I think the main reason you don't see many walls in RoR is because most people like to take the offensive. Most good players believe in booming and therefor have bronze times averaging 15 minutes. So by the time you use your extra villies to surround yourself with walls they will be in bronze and have siege to tear down your walls. Then you find your self short on resources because you spent too much time stone mining and building walls. However, the enemy will have a strong economy from the boom. He will be swarming you and you will have little to stop him. Also, it takes but one small hole in your wall network for him to come storming through. This is all due to expert players finding weaknesses and deploying strategies in the game. In a way it is unfortunate, because I like defensive games. The siege of a stronghold or holding a well defended pass or castle are quite fun. When I first got the game I thought wow, Babylon will be great with their huge towers. But after playing against humans that strategy didn't work as expected. The wall strat can work, though, providing your good and the opponent does rush too soon. I just hope in AoK we will see a much improved defensive game.

LoL, experts exploiting weakness?

Walls taking alotta time?

Weak economy from walling...

LOL

So funny...

I've never had a weak economy because of walls. You rarely need more than 150 stone to wall, and rearely more than 200

Hey Elijeh, what I meant was that while you have some villies mining stone and building walls your enemy will have more villies on food, wood, or gold. Your economy will be weak compared to his. This also assumes the players are quite good. All thimgs being equal, offense will beat defense, at least in RoR.

Keet, all things considered, having your economy protected'll mean you win... Ask EmiLy_Snow about my shang 12:45 bronze, and how i still lost due to no walls

Elijeh, I'm all for walls. I was just answering his original question on why most people don't wall or don't do it effectively. I believe it is becuase most good players are aggressive and go for the kill. Average to poor players don't wall well because they forget to maintain their economy and military and only worry about the walls. When they are beaten they are afraid to try the walling next time and they give up on it. Myself, I love defense, especially with Bab walls and towers. I love strategy where good positioning and defense beat sheer numbers.
