Ive noticed that the sounds directory, along with the midi's includes the ambient sounds for the game. Oddly though many of them ive never heard played, especially the wind*.wav's and the forest*.wav's. Why are there sounds that AoE doesn't use? Ive switched the names of the desert and forest sounds to play them in the game, but then the old sounds wont play either....

And exactly what decides to play which sound? Is it what your looking at? So if you screen was all desert, the desert sounds would play, and if i left my screen looking at mostly forest, the forest sounds would play (if they even work at all)? And what about the wind*.wav's?

If Ensemble happends to read this could you perhaps explain how these ambient sounds are triggerd and which if any are never used?
