A few months ago I had a long converstaion with Celestial_Dawn, whom most of you should know or have heard of. My game had become somewhat stagnant, and I was lacking confidence, rendering it even worse.
My point was that usually whenever I lost, no matter how much I had contributed or how hard I had played, I felt extremely bad (shrug, so I'm competitive Here are some of the things CD said: Celestial_Dawn> but when i play a game This actually got me thinking quite a bit and was in fact quite a change in my attitude. I no longer felt like *****after a loss AS LONG AS I had contributed more than my share (ie kill 1 guy and hurt another, kill the best guy on the other team, whatever). Thus when I play a 3v3 or 4v4 and my allies are dying, I know I might lose but what the hey, I will play my damndest and give them a good game, but even better I will know that I gave it my best effort; ocasionally this will even lead to exciting come from behind victories, which makes me feel even better So the next time your allies are simcitying or die to a twenty minute tool rush, or are just overwhelmed by superior opponents, grit your teeth and give it your best shot, win or lose you will at least have the satisfaction of knowing you played well. PB
Celestial_Dawn> even if i know teams are stacked
Celestial_Dawn> i say well ok
Celestial_Dawn> but if we lose this
Celestial_Dawn> it's not going to be because of me
Celestial_Dawn> i make sure i do my darndest to kill whoever i'm opposite
_Maladroit> heh yes but no matterwhat if u end up losing
_Maladroit> part of u blames urself?
Celestial_Dawn> no
_Maladroit>
Celestial_Dawn> i never do unless it really was my mistake
Celestial_Dawn> look
Celestial_Dawn> 3 decent palyers
Celestial_Dawn> vs me and 2 newbies say
Celestial_Dawn> am i gonna blame myself if i lose?
Celestial_Dawn> no
Celestial_Dawn> i'm going to HURT someone bad
Celestial_Dawn> and force them to RELY on partners to live
_Maladroit> i do tho...not *******really just more pessimistic next game
Celestial_Dawn> shrug
Celestial_Dawn> if it's not YOUR fault
Celestial_Dawn> why worry about it?
_Maladroit> hmm
Celestial_Dawn> when it really IS your fault
_Maladroit> i am trying to think of the last game i lost and why
Celestial_Dawn> then u had best worry
Celestial_Dawn> the important thing here is that in the game
Celestial_Dawn> u
Celestial_Dawn> in other words
Celestial_Dawn>
Celestial_Dawn> or you could not have played so much better that it would have altered the game balance
_Maladroit> hmm ok ic
Celestial_Dawn> and you simply expect the same level of performance from yourself all the time
Celestial_Dawn> so long as u meet, or surpass that level
Celestial_Dawn> there should be no cause for concern
Celestial_Dawn> this is not to say there is no room for improvement
Celestial_Dawn> there certainly is
Celestial_Dawn> but it should be nothing that you should be upset over
