Rounin

What time are you going to be online tonight? I am leaving work at noon and will be online from roughly 1:00 PM CST til 3:30 PM. (small window, sorry) Later tonight I will be busy. =(

The plan will be to meet in the Zone. Any/all of the officials can be around for the drawning up of the matches. If anyone else would like to be present for the pairing drawin, let Rounin or I know.

There will be a lot of byes (seven) in the first round due to the odd number of teams entered (25 teams in a 32 team format). Nine teams will be eliminated after the first round. Then eight; four; two......

I would like to petition for a buy the first round. I leave
for vacation May 26th and come back about June 3rd. I am
afraid we wont get the first match in in the first two
days of the tourney as I will be busy getting ready
for the trip.
Also, I have not noticed any way of getting in touch
with the other teams or any "Zone Times" when each team
will be online to make plans or play a match.
For example, Scrith and I are on almost every night
from 9-12 CST (later on weekends) but our third is only
available on weekend nights.

A suggestion for awarding byes by seeding the teams:

Use Rounin's "Pick the Winner" thread to seed the field. Take the top 7 vote getters and award them a first round bye. I suspect that the predictions are going to be pretty accurate at identifying top teams even if the winner isn't picked. This will make it more likely that the less skilled teams will be matched with similar skilled opponents without "jerry-rigging" the tournament, making the first round more enjoyable. The second round will bring forth the best teams from the first round providing better match-ups over all.

I personally like this better than random byes, because it will provide for better match-ups all the way through the tournament. It will also help satisfy those that thought this was more of an intermedite, AOEH toournament since it will increase the likelihood that the first round will be populated by mostly intermeduate skilled teams.

In order to keep the voting in Rounin's thread honest, I recommend you make no major announcement about this until the decision has been made if you choose to do it.

That may work and yet not... Some of those votes were based on friendship and/or never hearing of other players before. I asked emily_snow last night why she chose the numbers that she did and she said it was cause those were the teams she knew people on. Just a though that maybe other options should be looked for? I dont mind this way...but there are bugs in this system.
