I have done some reaserch and found that Chariots eat cavalry. be patient and I'll tell you why. 2cavs cost 300units of money, 3chariots cost 300units of money, now 3chariots will win against 2cav. not to mention egyptian chariots. and scythe huh. 2blan sc will beat 2hcav with nobility and one fully upgraded egyptian scythe will win against 3fully upgraded macedonian Hcav. I tested that 2Egypian sc will win v.s 2cataphracts with nobility, and you won't even have 2sc you'll have 3 according to recourses. now tell me what is so good about cav in ror nothn
it is true that Yamato cav cost alot cheaper but their still hopless

Then I guess Yammy (this post topic by you), has no chance against Egyptian (a earlier post by you).

I love Egypt. With RoR and scythes they are a wicked civ.On most maps wood is almost inexhaustible, therefore the chariots will never stop coming. In an ideal situation of course.hehe.

They are still technically a fast civ, altho not much faster. However scout rush with yammy is a great and valid tactic. If you play yammy, I highly reccomend not letting the opponant reach bronze untouched

Yammy also gets composite bowmen, which can shred chariots...however yammy does get a weak iron
pity, they used to be one of my fav civs too

I played yam alot in AOE, but in ROR never unless I get them in random. I'd say even in a 3v3 I am about 95% to scout rush with yam ! Shang can do a better scout rush since they save even more food on peons than yam does on the first few scouts, but Shang has many more options and yam doesn't really. Yam can pull a good old fashioned cav rush but they need to clearly out bronze the intended victim. Yam as always stinks in later iron and had no real defence to powerhouse siege civs. I actually think yam is supposed to make academy units in iron along with HA for raiding peons/etc. I'd actually hope to have cent's/HHA and maybe some Hcav. The whole problem with making a huge cav horde in bronze is that the enemy may have camels. On the whole yam is weakened too much in ROR.. IMO their peon speed should still be 1.5.. Assy is clearly still playable in ROR however.
If you kill yam's access to gold you really hurt them. Yam must get coinage ASAP, and not neglect any opportunities to trade. Yam has little use for wood for units other than boats, and can greatly help out an allience by putting major effort into the sea. Yam extra wood should go into a big farming operation, for food for units as well as to trade for gold. All in all yam has clearly gone from one of the top 3 civs in AOE to one of the bottom 5 in ROR IMO. The civ's that get camels and scythe rise greatly in ROR ! - neilkaz -

Yamato isn't too bad in team games. The cav do a good job of support against catapults, and the horse archers are great peon hunters. Plus the horse archers are so cheap that losing a pack of them is no big deal. They have a very strong economy and coinage so they can feed others, and they have the best navy in the game so they can take the seas for your team. All in all not a bad civ, just an average at best civ. Oh yeah, cav/scout ship rushes are still powerful, you just need to build a few forward academies and bring some hoplites with you now to protect the cav.

I agree with Neilkaz and Ender here: to fully exploit Yam you must build academy units. In fact, they may be the most Academy-dependent civ in RoR. A pack of Phalanx and HHA is nothing to sneeze at. But just as in AoE, helepolis do mean things to Yam.

If you rely mainly on cavalry with Yam a good Scythe-player will simply annihilate you. Scythes are not so good against large numbers of horse archers though, and Yam should always flood the map with them in iron. HHAs, phalanx for destroying things, lots of ships - not that bad after all.

My 2 cents.

Agreed. Never play 'em, 'cept in random civ. A gold-dependent iron that's also one of the weakest in the game is a dubious combination. Scout rushing is a MUST (and since I completely suck at micromanaging scouts, it's a no-brainer).
