That depends. Are you playing AoE or RoR? Single player random map or scenarios?

Add the line:

limit=200

to your command line for your AoE icon. (That would be in the "Target" text box of the properties window of that icon.) It works for random map, never tried it with dm. But I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work.

example:
"C:\Games\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires\Empires.exe" Limit=200 -nostartup

Hemmie, again I ask: Where did you find out about these command line options?

Hey Kurtie, I did respond to your earlier message. (At least I *think* I did... don't remember what the thread was called.) Look in your AoE directory for Word files called "Update" (readme for AoE) and "Readmex" (readme for RoR).

So S_Hemlock, is that line command for Single Player or Multi-player?

Just wondering bucause I think the last time I checked it was for Age of Empires Multiplayer games...remember, they had no way of changing their population limit in the lobby.

The command line "limit=xxx" in AoE works the same way as the pop limit box in RoR. It doesn't change the limit in single player games, but if you want to play single player random maps, start a multiplayer game and fill the slots with computer players.

I don't know of any way to get around the pop limit in scenarios. (Other than by conversion or starting to build units in all your buildings when you are 1 below the pop limit.)

Your a genius S_Hemlock!

...I just finished playing a single player game with population set to 200--it's so fun!

When the game starts just click the Multiplayer button in the Main Menu, pick the first option, make a new game, press [ESCAPE] when the screen says that it is making a new game, then fill in the slots with computers, set the population to your desired limit, and Voila!

Thanks S_Hemlock!

I am flattered, but I am no more a genius than your typical parrot. I am merely the messenger, not the discoverer of this method.

Yes S_Hemlock...but if a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it will anyone know if ever fell?

You are the one that told us...not the discoverer.
