I think my favourite civ in AOE must be,hmmmmmmm..,the Assyrians.I just like using em so much,i just love it when my ca's rush into someones town and destoy all opposition and then rush out.And then come my seige to finish the job.My favourite civ in ROR must be the famous Phoes.Fast enough to be emmitted into the fast four civs and flexible enough to fight fairly well in all 4 ages and now probaly the best boomer in the game.

In AoE my fav was Assyrian, just like most everyone else. I mean, they just rule in AoE. In RoR, I like Minoan. Their compies rock, and the boats are cheap as can be. They get Heavy Cats, so they can be a force in Iron. I'm not saying they can beat Hittite, but merely that Minoa can fight in Iron.

I know Persian's have cheap archer range but they have the most variety, they have all except the chariot archer which is good, I olny wish they had more market tech. Damn those 200 food farms, can't afford elle's well unless I get it from tribute, which isn't very often.

In AOE I was die hard Yamato cavs were my alltime favorite unit (still are -- damn camel :-( ...
In ROR I like both Rome and Phoenicia, but generally play phoenicia as romes bronze age army is a bit too sparse for my tastes.
