It happened when I zm'ed eug1 and he said he was going to play a 1v2 against his brother and his girlfriend. I asked him if I could watch and he said ok. I thought it was pretty nice of eug1 to take his time to teach them the game.
The game was a gig med. default resources with eug1 starting at three (egyptian) with mdg6 (his brother, egyptian) at six, and kja0 (assyrian) at nine.
Eug1 took his time and graciously let them build up. Actually mdg6 didn't do bad for a rookie. I could tell that this wasn't his first time playing. For his first pit he passed up a sweet spot right below his TC and pitted a long way away from his TC. Kja0 didn't make a dedicated wood pit till late in the game. But she did wall off her two shallows, which is something a lot of decent players don't even do. However she didn't wall all the way across, which hurt her later.
In tool mdg6 made some scout ships and sent them exploring. He dragged the coast until he came across eug's only dock. Instead of taking out eug's fishing operation, he sent his ships back to protect his fleet.
Meanwhile sneaky little eug had a vill hiding out by mdg6's tc the whole time. He built another tc there and started stealing mdg6's wood and gold. Eug then built a couple of archeries and towers by mdg6. Eug was really making it fun for both of them, because he could have been an ass and destroyed them quick. But he would make a few units and let his opponets battle them. At one point mdg6 actually could have probably wiped eug clean when mdg6's force of about 20 chariots cruised right by eug's city and instead destroyed one of eug's outskirt cities.
I think mdg6 was getting a little bloodthirsty because he eagerly murdered two of my three vills I had before I resigned. Meanwhile in kja0's city, she had a nice mixed force of Assy cav, hoplites, bowmen and broadswordsmen.
A little while later, eug asked them if they were ready for him to beat them up (about 1h into the game). He then sent a force of scythes to win the day.
I really enjoyed watching the game. It is no pressure and I had my wife watching with me. Of course she won't play on the Zone because of the multitude of "no cheats" games. She doesn't call it cheating unless the batmobile or lazer men are unleashed.
Thanks eug1. I'll give them a couple of weeks and the 1v2 will be pretty tough on you
