The primary reason behind not utilizing multiple unit assualts is speed variance. My suggestion is to have the ability to highlight multiple units and once grouped they advance at the pace of the slowest unit. This way archers & phalanx's protect catapults from lions & alligators. No matter how great the game losing a catapult to a lion is a joke. (Or simply modify catapults to have a villager which accompanies the unit to fight off such issues.)

I believe I have read that your suggestion is being implemented in AoK; however, I might suggest that future AoK ideas be posted in AoK Heaven rather than here. I have seen responses from the ES team in that forum so I know that they read the messages. I don't know if they still read this forum.
