Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

I get attacked from all directions. Any help around?
OK, I did that and see the gold in a small orange camp. But why don't the reds help me after I tributed them?
I've got the gold from Yun-chung - where next?
I lose a lot of men even with the reds helping me. Can I get any back before moving on?
The Southern Hsiang-nu are tough, with those Guard Towers. I have nothing that will outrange them.
What's the best way to take out the Northern Hsiang-nu?
While I was killing the Northern Hsiang-nu I suddenly got the 'You have been defeated' message and lost! What gives?

Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

Yes, but it's few and far between, and some of it you have no hope of getting to right now. Your best chance is to build a Market and tribute player 2 the 200 gold, change diplomacy for them to ally, then head right, along the edge of the map.

Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

They will - just not yet. Go and pick the orange troops off with the Composite Bowmen you will find just past them.

Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

Head towards the centre of the map, you will find Yun-chung's main base. Here you must kill Jason and protect the Govt Centre. There are some more Composite Bowmen here - add them to the ones you found before and look after them. THIS is where the red Cavalry will help you attack - lead the oranges to them and watch the fun. You will have to lead the reds in a bit by bringing the orange troops their way - then they help you destroy the main base.

Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

Yes - behind the main orange base is a Gaia Archery Range and beyond that are more troops and Villagers. Remember you have to keep 1200 gold, but at least the Archers you make can benefit from upgrades, unlike the Gaia units you capture.

So what units can I make if gold is short?

Remember that Market you built? Research the wheel and give them armour.

Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

Ironically, you won't have until you get past them. So don't go past them - go round. There are easier foes to defeat first, and they are guarding the technology you need.

Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

Hit all you can with Archers, then commit cultural heresy.

 Huh?

Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

Destroy part of the Great Wall. Move in and mop up.

Scenario 1 - The Emperor's Deadly Game

Two possible reasons. First, if you are using siege weapons they may hit the mercenary Town Centre in there. Second, as soon as you attack the wall the mercenaries become enemies and will usually destroy one of the Govt Centres, so obviously they have some loyalty somewhere (cultural pride, perhaps?). Take out the mercenaries before you go through the wall.
